Two Céilí dance workshops will be offered. There is room for everyone at the Firehall!
Saturday, 1:30 - 3:00 pm, Firehall Donegal Two-Hand dances are easy to learn and fun to do. These two-person dances are short, sweet and use a simple footwork or walking step. All the dances we learn in class will be called at the evening céilí, so come to the workshop and get a head start! (No need to bring a partner.) Sunday, October 28, 2:30 - 4:00 pm, Granville Ferry Hall Sean-nós step is the oldest form of Irish percussive dance. Recognizable by its distinctive “into the floor,” heel-and-toe style, sean-nós step is a relaxed, playful conversation between the dancer and the musician. In this workshop, you’ll learn basic elements of this unique dance style along with historic context. New location: Granville Ferry Hall, 5352 Granville Rd, Granville Ferry) Footwear: While special shoes are not required, it’s always best to wear comfortable shoes with a smooth sole for dancing. |
